Rinjani Mount Short History
On the island of Lombok, there is a mountain with an imposing conical and elongated appearance. On the island of Lombok, the naturally created mountain slopes appear to resemble a very beautiful painting. The crater above the height is filled with water, and the active Merapi mountain is located in the center of the crater. In a brief history, the mountain known as Samalas gave rise to Mount Rinjani, which is today located 3,726 meters above sea level. After Mount Tambora and Mount Krakatau, which mountain erupted in 1257 with the most destructive eruption.
As mentioned before, Mount Samalas is 4,200 meters above sea level. Due to the eruption, there were significant worldwide effects including starvation, agricultural failure, and nearly year-round rain.
Remember that Mount Rinjani runs from the western to the easternmost points of the island of Lombok. The mountain then looks to be made up of several mountains, yet still being a single entity. By giving each mountain a different name based on its history, locals will also understand the distinctions between them. These mountains’ names are based on legends that the locals firmly hold to be true. Mount Rinjani, Mount Baru Jari, Mount Setampol, and Mount Sngkareang are a few of them.
